Reports have it that annually 90,000 Tonnes of food are wasted due to overproduction in Europe while there are 239 Million people who have no access to adequate food in Africa. This became the rational of including a committee to handle Agriculture and food Security at the recently concluded Euro-African Youth Parliament, a top level decision making conference for young professionals and advocates from 51 countries of Europe and Africa. The Agriculture and food security committee was chaired by Olusola Amusan and his Iris Counterpart Megan Smith. Olusola, who is a growth consultant and serial entrepreneur is also a lover of Agriculture.”If we are able to solve hunger problems and eliminate extreme poverty, we will be able to get our people ready for sustainable development”, Olusola insisted. “We must Eliminate hunger, eliminate trade barriers for agricultural and program and build necessary partnerships for food security”, he continued. The Euro African Youth Parliament which held in Berlin, Germany was a 12 days conference that ended with 2-days of general assembly at the berlin city parliament, popularly referred to as the Chamber of Deputies. At the general assemblies, delegates argued their positions on the resolutions developed by their communities and winning resolutions were passed. The resolution documents are actualized through post event advocacy and recommendations are passed to both the African Union and the European Union. “I am excited to be part of the first Euro African Youth parliament and I am happier that my Nation is represented at such a history making event” Olusola Concluded.
